Basics:
I was born in 1964, the year the Beatles came to America. I am a Ferris Saxon and a UW Husky but also an L.C. Tiger and W.S.U. Cougar fan.
In a previous life:
Upon receiving my History degree from UW, I promptly became a rock star (in my own mind) in the region surrounding Lake Washington. From Mount Vernon to Tacoma, Stevens Pass to West Seattle I plied my trade, eking out a meager living playing “Louie, Louie” for my adoring fans, before God grabbed me by the collar in 1997, pulling me out of the wilderness to become a youth pastor.
What he hates:
Writing autobiographical information.
What he brings to Southside:
God has planted in my heart a deep love and empathy for people in their teens. I believe if we can redirect a young person’s life just a few degrees toward Jesus, five, ten, twenty years down the line they will be in a far better place.
What he cherishes:
I’ve got five kids under my roof–Anthony, Claire, James, Katie and Mikey are loud and fun, in that order. I highly respect my wife, Jenny, for taking the more difficult job in our marriage partnership of homemaking. You sure make us a nice home, Jen!
